MANCAP DIVISION

MANCAP is an acronym for (Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme) it’s a subdivision in the Product Certification Directorate. The division is responsible for ensuring that locally manufactured products in Nigeria give the required degree of satisfaction to consumers through compliance with Government policies on standardization and conformity assessment.

The following activities are domiciled in the MANCAP division:

1. MANCAP/SEZCAP Certification
2. MANCAP Fast Track
3. Product Type Certification

For the purpose of this introduction note we shall focus on the e-MANCAP, eProduct type and eSEZCAP.

ePRODUCT - TYPE CERTIFICATION

Product Type Certification scheme is a conformance certificate activity designed to issue certificate conformance to product meant for export that comply with contractual specification and related documents/import requirements of the destination country or customer’s specification. The scheme applies to specific consignment meant for export by the applicant.

SCOPE

Product Type Certification covers conformity assessment of locally manufactured product strictly meant for export.

eSEZCAP

PURPOSE

SEZCAP is an acronym for (Special Economic Zones Conformity Assessment Programme) It was designed to ensure that products manufactured or repacked within Special Economic Zones and intended for the Nigerian market comply with the requirements of the Nigerian Industrial standards (NIS) and regulations.

SCOPE

The SEZCAP shall cover all products, that are produced or repacked within all Special Economic Zones and are designated for sale or distribution within the Nigerian markets.

e-MANCAP

Electronic MANCAP (e-MANCAP) was designed to streamline certification process for faster and more efficient product certification of MANCAP application.
